Midweek T20 Team Success!

Our Midweek T20 Team Captain Jonny, reflects on his team's promotion:

What a season for Steventon Cricket Club’s T20 midweek team! We finished top of Division 2 North in the Serious Cricket Downs League and, as a result, will be promoted to Division 1, a fantastic achievement for the club. The team went seven games unbeaten, with our only defeat coming against Chieveley Cricket Club. 

There were some outstanding individual performances throughout the season, with several Steventon players finishing in the league’s top 10. Glen Willett finished 2nd in the batting run scorers with an impressive 262 runs, while Jonny Simmonds finished 6th with 204 runs. 

Masood Karim and Tim Percival topped the league bowling performances with 10 wickets each, followed closely by Jonny with 9 wickets, while Elliott Derby also made the top 10 with 7 wickets. 

Skipper Simmonds also finished joint top of the fielding performances, taking 4 catches. 

However, this success was ultimately down to a huge team effort, and everyone who pulled on a Steventon shirt contributed massively throughout the season. 

I’d also like to say a personal thank you to vice-captain Rob Alderman, who has helped me enormously over the course of the season, his support has been hugely appreciated. 

Well done to everyone involved. A brilliant season, a huge achievement for the club, and one we can all be very proud of.
