Completion of the new net facility at Steventon CC

Building work has completed to create a new two lane net facility for cricketers of all ages in the Steventon area. Once the surface has had time to settle, the Steventon net facility project will be ready for use following its installation on the village green in the centre of Steventon. The fabulous project, which is funded by a £54,808 grant from FCC Communities Foundation, will provide a state-of-the-art practice facility before the start of the season. Mike Day, Chair of Steventon Cricket Club is excited that the project is nearly complete. He says: “It’s great to see our vision for this community facility become a reality. We are extremely grateful for the funding FCC Communities Foundation has given us and we’re looking forward to opening it to all to cricketers in the local area.” FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund. Penny Horne, spokesperson for FCC Communities Foundation, says: “It’s wonderful to see something we have funded finally complete and ready to benefit lots of different people within Steventon and the surrounding villages. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities and this is a great example of what can be achieved.” A formal opening of the facility will happen at a ceremony on 30th April 2023 at 3pm, with guests of honour “Whispering” Bob Harris from the Radio 2 country show and Charles Dagnall the Cricket commentator from Sky Sports .
